Remote controls were first pointed at screens in the late 1950's. Since then IR (Infrared) wireless remotes and control systems have evolved to be the default control method for the Audio Video industry.
It's common to see other methods such as RS232 serial control and IP / App control. However, Infrared is arguably a more reliable solution which can usually work over longer distances and doesn't rely on a Wi-Fi network. Typical IR applications include controlling hidden components in a cabinet, controlling house-wide ‘multi-room’ systems, and complementing other control systems.
IR systems need to be optimised for 'Set top' decoders such as MySky, MySky HDI and many others. Our quality IR components are engineered to overcome the challenges of LCD, LED, OLED and Plasma TVs, and reject UV and IR light-waves that could cause interference.
