NAD BluOS 2i MDC Module
MDC BluOS-2i
NAD Electronics, MDC Modules, Streaming Amps
This MDC card adds BluOS to these models:
Easily integrate Hi-Res Audio, network streaming, and music control. Featuring BluOS, the music management software developed by NAD’s sister brand, Bluesound, the BluOS 2i module is a complete digital music solution at an amazingly affordable price. Please click here for more information on BluOS.
Thanks to the forward-looking innovation of Modular Design Construction, you can now add BluOS network and internet music streaming with advanced music management to your NAD C 390DD, NAD Masters M12 and M32 or the NAD Classic models C 368 and C 388.
The BluOS 2i module has a new more powerful ARM Processor for a quicker, more responsive user experience. As an internal module there are no external wires or power supplies required and integration with the firmware is hand-in-glove. Both Ethernet and Wi-Fi operate in asynchronous mode for lowest jitter performance and allow connection to music stored anywhere on the local network or streamed directly from the Internet using popular music services like Spotify Connect, Tidal, and TuneIn. You can also play music from a USB drive or hard drive via the USB A port. Bluetooth® with aptX is also natively integrated so you can wirelessly connect to any smartphone, tablet, or Bluetooth-enabled device within range and stream your favourite music apps or libraries in high-fidelity.
The free BluOS Controller app is available for download from the respective app stores for Apple iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod), Android devices, Kindle Fire and Windows or macOS computers.
Once connected, this device will appear as a BluOS player - where it can ‘receive’ a stream of music. It can also be grouped with other players in your system - for example, streaming an internet music service such as Tidal to two or more zones in your home at the same time.
Please note however, that the other inputs/sources on this device cannot be ‘sent’ to BluOS for transmission to other players - for example, sound from a TV or CD player connected to this device cannot be sent to other Bluesound players.
Please also note that NAD models with additional Zone outputs (for example, Zone 2) cannot play digital sources such as BluOS through these additional Zone outputs. BluOS will only be compatible with the main zone output (Zone 1).
Add the BluOS Voice Skill inside the Amazon Alexa app and enjoy hands-free voice control of personal music collections, streaming services and more using a list of simple streamlined commands. Using an Echo device you can ask Alexa to play popular songs from Tidal, queue up saved playlists, adjust the volume in different rooms, or ask what’s playing in the Kitchen. No Echo device and want to try it out? No problem. Download the Amazon Alexa app, activate the skill, tap the speech bubble in the bottom drawer of the Amazon Alexa app and say anything from the list of commands.
While the expected functions of Play/Pause/Skip are present, BluOS also brings all of your music together integrating locally stored music (like iTunes) and music streaming services. BluOS does not rely on middleware like UPnP/DLNA/AirPlay with their inherent limitations, but instead creates direct shares with music in all formats including FLAC, ALAC and WAV with data rates up to 24/192. Playlists can be created and managed right inside the BluOS App. Gapless playback is supported and the BluOS 2i module can be grouped with other Bluesound Players to form integrated whole-house systems.
With AirPlay 2*, you can connect multiple AirPlay-enabled devices around the house and have them communicate with each other through AirPlay. Listen to your music in perfect sync as you walk room-to-room, or play different songs in different rooms, and control everything on your Apple device. You can even say the song you want to listen to and where and let Siri take control of your music experience.
Includes an external USB WiFi module to optimise signal strength.
*Apple AirPlay 2 only currently available on the C 368 and C 388 when the MDC BluOS 2i is installed.
NAD ingeniously designed their components to accommodate user-installed circuit boards, so you can keep up with changing technology. This add-on module lets you add intuitive, high-fidelity network and internet music streaming to NAD components with MDC (Modular Design Construction).
This module adds compatibility with Bluesound's BluOS wireless music system. That means you can integrate your compatible NAD component into a wireless multi-room music system. Stream songs to your main system, or group additional Bluesound speakers throughout your home.
Operate your system via Wi-Fi® using the BluOS Controller app with your Apple® or Android™ device, or your Windows® or Mac® computer. It gives you flexible control over your entire music system. Play the same song everywhere or stream different music to different zones at the same time. You can even use your Apple Watch to control your system.
BluOS can send 24-bit high-res music to any room in your home, without any loss of sound quality. Stream music from your personal library or from internet streaming services including TIDAL, Spotify®, Qobuz, and Rhapsody®, among others.
