Features
CustomSound Series: PSB's CustomSound series of high performance architectural loudspeakers offer superior stereo and home theatre sound in residential and commercial applications. Designed inside the anechoic chamber at Canada's National Research Council, the CustomSound series speakers are engineered with PSB's unparallel driver technology and expertise.
6.5" Carbon-Filled Polypropylene Woofer: Featuring PSB's trademark carbon-filled polypropylene 6.5" woofer with rubber surround, this speaker has a warm and balanced sound with plenty of power handling thanks to the high temperature voice coil.
Aimable 0.75" Aluminum Dome Tweeter: The 0.75" aluminum dome tweeter, another proprietary PSB driver, is concentrically mounted and features a carefully engineered Wave Guide and ball-joint pivot mount assembly. This allows the tweeter to go lower in frequency, creating a perfect blend with the woofer in the crossover region, and allows the tweeter to be aimed toward the listening position for enhanced musical imaging.
Tweeter Level: Adjustment for the level of the tweeter allows you to "dial-in" the upper frequency response of the speaker and its acoustic environment after installation to achieve the most musical balance for every room. The tweeter level switch is found on the front of the speaker and can be set to +3dB or 0dB.
Precision Crossover Network: The PSB CustomSound series in-ceiling loudspeaker utilizes a precision crossover network between the woofer and concentrically mounted tweeter for a smooth wide-band response.
Spring-Post Terminals: The PSB CustomSound series in-ceiling speaker is outfitted with spring-post terminals to connect your speaker wire. The spring-post terminals will accept bare wire (up to 12AWG), pin-connectors, and banana-plugs (single only).
In-Ceiling Installation: The CustomSound series in-ceiling loudspeaker features a slim and discrete profile that practically disappears in the room thanks to its low-profile perforated grille and frameless design, making the speaker easy to install and conceal in all types of rooms. The in-ceiling speaker employs four high strength doglegs for easy installation and removal. In part to their wide dispersion characteristics and other aspects of their superb sonic performance, mounting position in your room is very flexible.
Paintable Steel Grille (Round & Square): The CustomSound series in-ceiling speaker comes with both round and square magnetic frameless grilles. The grilles use high-strength magnets for easy installation of the grilles to the speaker. The grille is constructed of painted steel and can be re-painted to match your ceiling following standard painting practices and techniques (spraying, not rolling or brushing, will yield best results).
Canada is almost as far away from New Zealand as you can get, but it seems we are close on more than just stunning scenery and a large neighbour.
We also appear to share similar tastes in a great sounding loudspeakers. For over 30-years Canadian speakers have been popular addition to New Zealand homes. The Canadian sound differs from USA and UK markets, with their scientific approach being woven into the DNA of their products for the last 4 decades.
Perhaps inspired by nature, science or both, PSB are among the most awarded and reviewed Canadian loudspeaker companies.
![]() THE “NATURAL AND OPEN” CANADIAN SOUND: INSPIRED BY NATUREIn 1974, Paul met Dr. Floyd Toole, a world renowned psychoacoustician at the NRC, who conducted numerous studies to understand how sounds were interpreted by the human sense of hearing at both the psychological and physiological levels. To Paul, who had devoted much of his childhood to become an accomplished violinist, it was a “Eureka” moment. He had long puzzled over how to consistently reproduce on a set of speakers the unique timbres of different violins exactly as they would sound to him when he played them. What Paul immediately recognised upon listening to Dr. Toole describe his research was that his findings gave him the formula he needed to design speakers that to the human sense of hearing, would be perceived as organic sounding. In Dr. Toole, Paul found a lifelong friend and peer who would influence him and whom he influenced, all in the pursuit of a way to reproduce sounds that listeners would perceive as equivalent to that which was real, alive, and natural. |

Two-Way Performance In-Ceiling Speaker
This premium architectural speaker embodies over 40 years of cutting-edge research in the field of acoustics and loudspeaker design. Musical, refined, and nearly invisible, these speakers can create a beautiful ambience, even in larger spaces. Because their sonic signature is identical to other PSB speakers, the CS610 can integrate perfectly as part of home theatres or as the soundtrack of the connected home.
Featuring PSB’s trademark carbon-filled polypropylene 6 1/2” woofer, this speaker has a warm and balanced sound with plenty of power handling thanks to the high temperature voice coil. The 3/4” aluminium dome tweeter, another proprietary PSB driver, is concentrically mounted and features a carefully engineered Wave Guide and ball-joint pivot mount assembly. This allows the tweeter to go lower in frequency, creating a perfect blend with the woofer in the crossover region, and allows the tweeter to be aimed toward the listening position for enhanced musical imaging. Adjustment for the level of the tweeter allows you to ‘dial in’ the upper frequency response of the speaker and its acoustic environment after installation to achieve the most musical balance for every room.
Adaptable to your decor
The CS610 has frameless magnetic grilles with invisible scrims. Both round and square grilles are provided, simplifying and reducing your inventory requirements. Each model features an improved simple, foolproof mounting system using heavy duty doglegs. Cutting templates are included. Pre-construction brackets and backcans are also available.
